![]() Look for the sticker on the back of your screen with the Model number. The fact that you’re asking means you were facing a chance of frying yours and not knowing why. The wrong controller is how people were frying their displays. I understand there are better screens, but you’ve got one already installed and it works great. Using the stock Arcade1Up display is great. I think the GRS spinner is a great idea, but if I remember correctly, you would need to make that hole a little bigger. If you also get the GRS spinner, it connects through the same interface board. For the GRS trackball, you also need the “12-in-1” interface board, which gives you a USB connection for the pi. If they can modify the hole size (make it smaller for the GRS), that sounds like a cool option. Then, you could use the trackball they sell: Might want to check to see if it’s included. That listing doesn’t mention it, but others they sell do. The black square on that control panel you ordered is a built in mounting bracket for the trackball they sell. Thanks for looking, I'd really appreciate thoughts and suggestions any one might have. Seems these two are the most common:Īny reason to go with one over the other? The one from Amazon appears to have a way to access some menu options on the display, but I'm not sure how important that really is. As such, I'll obviously need a display controller. What's my best bet for connecting the trackball to RetroPie? Seems several have USB cables, while I've also run across encoder boards dedicated to trackballs and spinners (namely the Opti-PAC)Īny suggestions for spinners? Again, seems Glen's spinner is well received, but I'm just not sure if it will work with the control panel above and/or RetroPie. Seems I can't go wrong with DIY Retro Arcade, but does anyone know what the intended purpose is of the far left hole? A spinner? Just another button?ġ.) What are my options for trackballs (given the control panel above)? I've heard great things about Glen's, but I suspect that won't work with this replacement panel. As such, that's led me to this control panel: I've decided to turn this into a single player cabinet that can play as many different types of games as possible. In my research, I've come across a few questions: I'm looking at starting to mod it by moving to RetroPie and installing a new control panel. Picked up an Asteroids cabinet a few weeks ago for $100.
